Heather Flemming-Kelly is a professionally trained contralto vocalist with over 20 years of performance experience across Canada, the USA, and Europe. Her notable achievements include a solo debut at Carnegie Hall in New York City and numerous symphonic performances with orchestras worldwide, including her home province’s Symphony New Brunswick. Heather has also spent summers as a fellow at prestigious music institutes, such as the Tanglewood Music Center, Chautauqua Music Institute, and the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. Additionally, she proudly represented Canada as a delegate in the Queen Elizabeth Competition in Brussels, Belgium.
While her performance background is extensive and varied, Heather’s true passion lies in coaching adult and young adult vocalists and nurturing new talent in New Brunswick. Since founding Atlantic Vocal Arts in 2015 upon returning to the Maritimes, she has guided numerous vocalists toward excellence across genres, including musical theatre, rock, pop, and classical singing. Heather holds a Bachelor of Music from Mount Allison University, a Master of Music in Voice Performance from McGill University, and a Performer’s Certificate from Montclair State University, Heather is exceptionally equipped to nurture voices across all styles.
Beyond her work in performance coaching, Heather is dedicated to vocal health and rehabilitation, holding a VHFA certification in vocal health first aid and the aging voice. Her enthusiasm for musical theatre is evident as she is frequently sought after as a vocal coach for theatrical productions. Heather believes that achieving vocal freedom, longevity, and confidence stems from mastering a healthy and reliable vocal technique. With a deep-rooted belief in the transformative power of music, Heather is dedicated to fostering a vibrant community of artists across various regions while proudly residing in Rothesay, New Brunswick with her husband and two children.
